See Your Lung Campaign by Clean Air India Movement
The human lung is central to the continuity of life and like all other organs of the human body it should never be neglected at all. In fact, everything possible to ensure its health should be undertaken without a second’s apprehension.
The characteristics of our home – the earth – have undergone massive changes. Things are not as green as they used to be. Today, the world is piled up with materials that are ‘not natural’, namely smoke and toxins. The chief reason for this is the pollution that has taken over the life of our planet in the most appalling manner conceivable – the land is contaminated, the water is poisoned and the air is thick with pollutants. In such a world, having healthy lungs is next to impossible.
Although, the previous paragraph paints a picture of absolute desperation, there is still hope left. Once again, humans have risen to the occasion and have come up with ways and means for removing pollution and bringing back the bygone days.
Their endeavours are not overnight ones but time taking ones. However, the activities associated with spreading awareness about pollution are fast, instant and simply hard-hitting.
These days, India is the centre of attention as far as examples are concerned – there is no dearth of them. The latest one will take place on April 15 and is a campaign titled See Your Lung.
On this day, a total of 30 cyclists wearing t-shirts with images of damaged lungs will ply Delhi roads atop green-coloured cycles from 7 am to 11 am. They will start from India Gate. Throughout the time, they will share information with citizens about the damage caused by vehicular pollution to human health, primarily the lungs.
This campaign is associated with Clean India Air Movement (CLAIM) which has been launched by Mr. Vijay Kannan, the India Head of Blueair – a company that makes air purifiers.
CLAIM had kicked off with a free carpooling service meant for helping people reach their destinations without having to take their cars. This way, the number of cars on Delhi roads at any given point of time will be less.
The See Your Lung campaign is a wonderful initiative and will truly explain the need for living in an environment free of air pollution. This is because the latter is caused primarily due to vehicular pollution.
Therefore, it goes without saying that the success of the See Your Lung campaign will ensure that vehicular pollution will be rendered incapable of causing harm to the air once and for all.
